Wait for the Sun by Devon Hulick

We fell asleep in a bush the other day

It sounds unpleasant but it was just what we needed

You see we were all just trying to escape the things we weren’t ready to face yet

Laying under the dome of the branches watching the sunrise through the leaves gave all three of us hope

I know we need to take care of ourselves but can’t we put that off for a few more years?

Devon Hulick lives in Bend, OR and was raised on ranches in Eastern Oregon with his grandparents. He is 26 years old and uses writing to understand some of the events of his childhood. He is a Latine, fem male who is trying to see the good in everyday.
