Meet Me at Mine (a dance narrative) by Annika Wong

Meet Me at Mine is a constantly evolving dance narrative that was conceived over the course of two years. It is an experiential, transient story of love, of the people who come and go in our lives, and the precious, unrepeatable moments we spend together. It is the story of love in its most nuanced context – what happens after it fades, and the bittersweet essence that colors the choice to leave.

Annika is a multi-faceted artist who has had the privilege to work in theatre, immersive theatrical experiences, and film. She was a Key Dancer in Bated Breath Theatre Company’s Chasing Andy Warhol (“New York’s best immersive theatre” – Time Out Magazine), directed by Mara Lieberman with choreography by Rachelle Rak. She was also on the creative/devising team for Bated Breath’s newest show, Bittersweet: the play, a stage adaptation of #1 New York Times Bestselling author Susan Cain’s novel of the same name. Some of her other key credits include The Founding of the World dance visual by artist Kenneth Tam, where she worked closely with choreographer Juri Onuki (choreographer for HBO, GQ x Valentino’s campaign starring actor Penn Badgley, Grammy Award nominated Maggie Rogers’s music video for Want Want, and more). In 2019, Annika returned for a brief period to Canada, where she was involved with Toronto’s award winning Wavestage Theatre Company for their production of Chicago the Musical (non-replica Canadian premiere), where she played the role of Mona, and was also a dance captain for the cast. As a singer and musician, she has played weekly solo sets at Tin Pan Alley NYC, and has also been a featured solo singer in West End Lounge’s Bound for Broadway showcase curated by John Forslund. Annika is currently a full-time company dancer with Marc Nunez’s Gotham Dance Theater. She is also a collaborator and 1 of 5 dancers in Preston Mui’s (currently George Eacker in HAMILTON on Broadway) all women, all Asian dance group, The Dynasties. As a choreographer, she premiered her first self-directed and self-choreographed evening length work, Meet Me at Mine in April 2023, which was performed at Peridance Center and produced by Nikki Holck. Annika has also choreographed for Broadway Dance Center’s Training Program Students under the direction of Loretta Morrison (currently head talent agent at Clear Talent Group, NYC). Through her work in film, the Vancouver International Festival of Recorded Movement (F-O-R-M) selected one of her dance films, The Mood of Mist, to be a part of their annual festival in November 2022. Currently, she is working on Exist The Musical, which is still in development, directed by Marina Montesanti with choreography by Ahmad Simmons. Annika lives and works in NYC.
